But “warm all year” does not mean every season feels the same—especially when you are wearing formal clothes, arranging an outdoor ceremony or welcoming guests who have travelled a long way.

For most couples, May to September is the best period for a Carnarvon wedding, with September arguably offering the best balance of mild temperatures, low rainfall and clear skies. Autumn is a season of transition. March can still feel distinctly summery, with an average maximum near 31.8°C. By May, the average maximum falls to around 26.5°C and evenings are much cooler.

For many couples, late April and May are excellent wedding choices. The milder conditions make outdoor ceremonies easier, while the days remain pleasantly warm. Sunset becomes earlier as autumn progresses—close to 6:00 pm by the end of April—so the ceremony and photographs need to start sooner than they would in summer.

May historically receives more rain than the warmer months, although Carnarvon’s total rainfall remains relatively low and varies considerably from year to year. A wet-weather plan is still worthwhile, even when the forecast looks promising.

Autumn is ideal for couples who want warm days without the intensity of midsummer. In May, consider a ceremony around 3:30 or 4:00 pm, leaving time for family photographs before the light fades.

Winter weddings: June to August

June and July are historically Carnarvon’s wetter months, averaging about 46 mm and 41 mm of rain respectively. Those figures are modest compared with many Australian wedding destinations, but they still make a sheltered backup important.

October becomes warmer, averaging about 26.1°C, while November rises to approximately 27.8°C. Sunset moves progressively later: from shortly after 6:15 pm in early spring to around 7:00 pm as summer approaches.

The main consideration is wind. Long-term observations from Carnarvon Airport show that average winds strengthen through spring, particularly in the afternoon. This does not rule out an outdoor ceremony, but it makes good setup choices essential.

For a spring wedding:

• Ask your venue which areas are naturally protected from the prevailing wind.
• Use a professional sound system with wind protection on the microphones.
• Secure ceremony programs, aisle decorations and signing-table items.
• Choose grounded floral arrangements instead of lightweight structures.
